From Family Tradition to Local Legacy: The Story of Gorman Brothers
Doug and Mike Gorman, the proud owners of Gorman Brothers, were raised on the values of hard work, community service, and family legacy. As young boys growing up in Merryville, Louisiana, they spent countless hours alongside their grandfather, Harry Laurent — a man of many roles, including serving as mayor of Merryville for an impressive 24 years.
Among their fondest memories are the summers they spent helping "Paw Paw" in his furniture and appliance store. It was there, in the warmth of a family-run business, that the brothers first learned the importance of customer service, integrity, and quality products. Watching their grandfather connect with customers, fix appliances, and manage a successful business left a lasting impression that would shape their future.
Inspired by their grandfather's entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his community, Doug and Mike launched Gorman Brothers in 1997. What began as a modest 2,500 square-foot operation quickly gained traction, fueled by their passion and commitment to excellence. Just two years later, in 1999, they moved into a brand-new, 10,000 square-foot facility on Airline Highway in Prairieville, Louisiana — a move that marked a significant milestone in the company’s growth.
Today, Gorman Brothers is known throughout the region for offering top-tier appliances and delivering exceptional customer service — the very principles instilled in them by Mr. Laurent. Doug and Mike remain committed to treating every customer like family and ensuring that their store reflects the care and quality their grandfather once modeled.
So when ordinary just won’t do, stop by Gorman Brothers. We’re confident you’ll find something you love — and experience the difference that comes from a legacy built on trust, tradition, and hometown pride.
